Responsibilities:

If you believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, grow, and succeed, this role was built for you.

As a School-Based Behavioral Health Therapist with Health Connect America, you'll provide meaningful, evidence-based behavioral health services to school-aged children and adolescents from elementary through high school. You'll help students develop the emotional, social, and behavioral skills they need to navigate challenges, build resilience, and succeed at school, at home, and in their communities while partnering with families, educators, and support teams to create positive outcomes.

What You'll Do

As a School-Based Behavioral Health Therapist, you'll provide compassionate, individualized therapeutic services that support students' emotional well-being, behavioral health, and overall functioning across school, home, and community environments. Day to day, you can expect to:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans that address each student's unique emotional, behavioral, social, and mental health needs

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to the student's age, developmental level, and presenting concerns

  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers, school administrators, special education staff, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success across environments

  • Support students experiencing behavioral health challenges, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or other special needs by implementing individualized strategies that promote growth, emotional regulation, and engagement

  • Coordinate care with families, healthcare providers, schools, and community partners while connecting students and families to resources and services that support ongoing progress

  • Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and provide crisis intervention, consultation, and ongoing progress monitoring as needed

What to Expect

This is a school-based and community-focused role serving elementary, middle, and high school-aged students throughout Charleston, South Carolina. You'll partner with educators, school administrators, caregivers, and other professionals to help students navigate challenges, strengthen coping skills, and build the foundation for success both in and outside the classroom.

This position is ideal for a therapist who is passionate about supporting the mental health and well-being of school-aged children and adolescents. Experience working with students with behavioral health challenges, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or other special needs populations is highly valued.

Services continue throughout the year to ensure continuity of care for enrolled clients when school is not in session.

Qualifications:

We welcome candidates who bring a genuine commitment to children and families and meet the following qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field is required.
  • Must hold license as a LMSW, LMFT-A, LPC-A, LISW-CP, LMFT, or LPC in the state of SC.
  • Minimum of one year experience working with children and/or families, which may include internships.
  • Experience providing services in school-based or community-based settings preferred.

  • Strong crisis intervention, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage a clinical caseload effectively
