Ongoing Contractor Position | Remote

Eco Candle Co. is looking for an experienced independent Email Marketing Specialist to take ownership of our email marketing program.

We are an established e-commerce brand specializing in handmade candles, home fragrance, bath & body products, and related products. We serve both retail and wholesale customers .

We are specifically looking for an experienced individual who can become a long-term part of our team. We are not looking for a large agency where our account will be managed by a junior team member. We want someone who will work directly with us, understand our brand, and take ownership of our email channel.

The Opportunity

Our email program is already established in Klaviyo, and our core automated flows have recently been reviewed and updated.

Because we are entering our busiest season, the immediate priority is campaign execution, learning our brand, maintaining our existing flows, and keeping our email program running smoothly.

This is NOT a project where we expect someone to immediately rebuild everything.

We want someone who will first learn:

• Our brand and visual identity
• Our products
• Our wholesale customers
• Our preferred design style
• Our tone of voice
• What has historically worked for us

Once they understand the business and have reviewed the data, we want them to bring recommendations for future testing and optimization.

Primary Responsibilities

Retail Email Marketing

Create and manage a minimum of 2 retail email campaigns per week , including:

• Promotions
• New product launches
• Seasonal campaigns
• Product features
• Educational content
• Gift guides
• Other creative campaigns that drive engagement and sales

Wholesale Email Marketing

Create and manage approximately 1 wholesale email campaign per week , including:

• Seasonal collections
• Wholesale promotions
• Ordering reminders
• Merchandising ideas
• Wholesale-specific opportunities

Advanced/professional Klaviyo experience is REQUIRED.

You should be comfortable independently:

• Building campaigns
• Scheduling campaigns
• Creating and managing segments
• Managing lists
• Reviewing customer behavior
• A/B testing
• Monitoring automated flows
• Identifying opportunities for optimization
• Reporting on email-attributed revenue and performance

You should be able to work in Klaviyo independently without needing basic platform training.

Email Flows

Our core flows were recently updated, so the initial responsibility will be monitoring rather than rebuilding .

You will:

• Monitor flow performance
• Ensure flows are functioning properly
• Watch for unusual performance or technical issues
• Include flow performance in monthly reporting
• Identify opportunities for improvement
• Maintain a list of recommended future flow updates

More substantial flow optimization will be considered after our busy season.

Design

You will be responsible for creating attractive, on-brand email designs.

Canva and advanced Figma experience are required.

You should be comfortable:

• Creating email graphics
• Designing email layouts
• Working with product photography
• Creating promotional graphics
• Maintaining brand consistency
• Designing for mobile and desktop

An important part of the initial role will be learning and reproducing our existing visual style.

Copywriting

You will write:

• Subject lines
• Preview text
• Headlines
• Calls-to-action
• Promotional copyProduct-focused messaging
• Wholesale messaging

Strong copywriting skills are important. We want someone who can write naturally and thoughtfully in our brand voice.

Reporting

Provide a monthly email marketing report covering both campaigns and flows.

Reports should include relevant metrics such as:

• Open rates
• Click-through rates
• Conversion rates
• Unsubscribes
• Engagement
• Flow performance
• List growth

Most importantly, we want insights and recommendations , not just numbers.

Tell us:

• What worked?
• What didn't?
• What should we do more of?
• What should we test?
• Which campaigns performed best?
• Which flows need attention?
• What opportunities do you see?

Ideal Candidate

You are:

• Highly experienced with Klaviyo
• Experienced with e-commerce
• Comfortable with both B2C and B2B/wholesale marketing
• A strong writer
• Highly proficient in Figma and Canva
• Data-driven
• Detail-oriented
• Highly organized
• Proactive
• Comfortable taking ownership
• Interested in developing a long-term relationship with a brand

This Position Is NOT a Good Fit If...

• You have only basic Klaviyo experience.
• You have only minimal experience in Figma.
• You are primarily a social media marketer who also does email.
• You require someone else to write your copy.
• You require someone else to design your emails.
• You primarily work from templates without developing campaign ideas.
• You are looking for a short-term project only.
• You manage a large number of accounts and cannot provide consistent attention to our brand.
• Your approach is to immediately rebuild everything without first understanding what is already working.
